Michele Renaud
My subject matter is mostly nature inspired, including flowers, landscapes, seascapes, skies and people. My style is whimsical but translates into identifiable forms. I particularly love painting using encaustic materials (beeswax and damar resin) and a propane torch. I use pigments and sometimes shellac to create art on birch panels.
My art is born of blending and layering. Both allow me to create work that is rich in color and depth. Using various materials in my paintings, I have found that the richness comes from painting many layers. And, by pairing vibrant shades with muted tones, I deliver something unexpected.
